A winter weather advisory has been issued for Hamilton on Monday (April 18) as the city braces for another bout of snow.

According to Environment Canada, a weather system will pass through the region Monday afternoon and into the evening bringing rain and snow.

Rain is expected to change quickly over to snow with amounts of 4 to 8 cm expected. Snowfall traits could peak at 3cm/h which could significantly reduce visibility at times.

“Above freezing temperatures early in the day may limit snowfall accumulations somewhat, especially on surfaces such as roads and sidewalks,” the advisory said.

“Locally higher snowfall accumulations may occur over areas of higher terrain including the Dundalk highlands and the Niagara escarpment where temperatures will be slightly cooler.”
