Burlington native Myles Manalo, the one-time last pick in the draft, will be back with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for his third season.

The team announced today (Jan. 31) that the 23-year-old Manalo, a Canadian fullback, has been re-signed. Last season, Manalo got into three games with the Tiger-Cats, registering two special-team taclkes, as he adapted to the offensive side of the ball after converting from linebacker.

Manalo has suited up in 12 games over two seasons in Hamilton. His intake was as sixth-round choice, No. 54 overall, in the 2021 Canadian Football League draft.

Now listed at six-foot-two and 230 pounds, Manalo has been part of a championship won in Hamilton. He played 21 games across two seasons (2017, ’19) with the Western Mustangs of Ontario University Athletics, registering 70 total tackles, 6½ tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, one interception and two pass breakups. He helped Western capture the 2017 Vanier Cup at Tim Hortons Field.

The signing comes two weeks out from the start of the CFL free-agency player. Unsigned players can test the open market at 12 noon on Feb. 14.
