Hamilton Tiger-Cats make 3 roster moves ahead of training camp

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have added a Canadian receiver and American defensive back, while parting with another player.
While the Canadian Football League and CFL Players’ Association have 3½ days left to negotiate a new labour agreement without further jeopardizing the start of training camps, teams are still announcing signings. The Tiger-Cats have added wide receiver Tyler Turner and defensive back Baylen Buchanan.
The 25-year-old Turner, who is six-foot-two and 200 pounds, trained with with the British Columbia Lions during the course of his time in Canadian university football. The St. Albert, Alta., native played 15 games over two seasons (2019-21) for the Alberta Golden Bears, registering 43 receptions for 655 yards and two receiving touchdowns. Turner also played for the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds in 2015-16.
Buchanan, 23, played 12 games last season with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in Conference USA of U.S. college football. At Louisiana Tech, the five-foot-11, 188-pound Buchanan registered 48 total tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass breakup.
A native of Lawrenceville, Ga., Buchanan played three seasons at a Power Five program with the Tennessee Voluneers, spread from 2016 to ’19. With Tennessee, Buchanan tallied 73 total tackles, three tackles for loss, five pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
The defensive back is the son of 12-season NFL cornerback Ray Buchanan. The elder Buchanan played for the Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Falcons and Washington.
