The primary tenants at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton used the stadium’s video screen to display words of support for Ukraine and the thousands of Ukrainians living in Hamilton on Friday (Feb. 25).
“#SupportUkraine” was displayed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Forge FC logos.
A photo of the display was shared on the official Twitter account of the Tiger-Cats, with the caption:
Hamilton’s vast and proud Ukrainian community has supported and raised us up for more than a century. In this time of need, it is our turn. We stand. United for Ukraine. #Ticats | #SupportUkraine
Conveniently, the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St Vladimir on Barton St. can be seen in the photo.

Invading Russian forces closed in on Ukraine’s capital Friday, in an apparent encircling movement after a barrage of airstrikes on cities and military bases around the country.
Thousands of Ukrainians crossed into neighbouring countries to the west in search of safety.
With men of military age banned from leaving the country, most of those who crossed borders were women, children and the elderly.
