Dr. Paul Missiuna has been accused of sexual assault by a 16-year-old who was not a patient.

Historic sexual assault charges have been laid against a Hamilton surgeon specializing in pediatric orthopedics.

Dr. Paul Missiuna has been accused of sexual assault by a 16-year-old who was not a patient. He has also been charged by Hamilton Police for sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, and sexual exploitation of a person under 16.

The offences allegedly took place between 1994 and 2005.

Police did not issue an official media release, but Missiuna’s charges were listed on his College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario profile.

He was charged in August.

Missiuna has worked at both McMaster Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.

Hamilton Health Sciences had indicated that Missiuna has not worked at their hospitals since the charges were laid.

His profile was still active on the McMaster University website as of Thursday. His bio indicates Missiuna concentrates on “Pediatric Orthopaedic problems with a special interest in the spine (scoliosis, kyphosis, and spondylolisthesis), hip dysplasia and limb deformities (Ilizarov surgery).”
