A project to de-pave and add more green space to Hamilton continues this fall.

The Green Venture project started in 2012 as a way to remove pavement and add more greenery. Last summer, concrete and asphalt outside of 539 and 579 Barton St. E. was dug up and replaced by plants, shrubs and trees in the ‘Depave on Barton’ project.

Green Venture, the Barton Village BIA, the GALA Community Planning Team, Adele Pierre Landscape Architect, and the City of Hamilton’s Ward 3 are continuing the Depave on Barton program this fall.

The southwest corner of Barton Street East and East Avenue North (316 Barton St. E.) is the next property for the project. And organizers are calling on the public for input on how to transform the corner.

In a public meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 6, Adele Pierre Landscape Architect will outline the rough site plan highlighting main features and considerations at this site.

Residents are welcome to attend the meeting at the Powell Park Clubhouse, 53 Birch Ave. at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept 6. People can register through Eventbrite.

People can provide comments through an online form here.

Questions about the project can be sent to Green Venture via email at [email protected].
