The options for Hamilton rideshare users have expanded with the arrival of Zoom Zoom — and they’re looking for drivers.

What started as an entrepreneurial dispatch service in 2012 for Niagara-area students unable to afford transportation has evolved into a prominent transportation network in the region.

Zoom Zoom acts more as a car service. The app and website offer multilayered services with several payment and ride options, including ZoomBusiness; ZoomKids, where vehicles come equipped with car seats; ZoomMoving; ZoomBus, for more than 15 passengers; and Zoom for Her, for those who feel safer travelling with other women.

The City of Hamilton recently approved Zoom Zoom as a licensed personal transportation provider for an annual fee of $5,080. The city will also collect 30 cents per trip.

Zoom Zoom had only been operating in Niagara before its expansion into Hamilton, where the company says it found “gaps in the market.”

Those interested in using Zoom Zoom as a rider or working for the service as a driver can sign up on the company’s website or by using the app.
