An Ancaster resident plans to buy a new car with his big lottery win.

James Browne of Ancaster won the jackpot, $448,189.50 in the Aug. 20 Lottario draw, according to a press release from OLG.

The 72-year-old retiree says this is his first major win after playing weekly.

Browne was at the store when he discovered his big win.

“I checked my ticket multiple times to make sure it was real. I was very calm and a bit nervous,” he said.

When he got home, he told his wife.

“She didn’t believe me at first. After about 20 minutes of convincing her, it started to sink in. She is so happy for me,” Browne said.

He plans to save his win and buy a new car in the future.

Browne bought the winning ticket at Fortino’s on Wilson Street in Ancaster.
