A Hamilton resident wanted to surprise her husband after winning the lottery.

Lisa Dobson of Hamilton won $88,888, the top prize with Instant Wild 8, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) said in a press release on April 25.

Dobson, a mother and grandmother, says she enjoys playing $5 instant games but was shocked she won.

“I checked my ticket at the grocery store and when I saw all the eights, I thought it was a glitch. I still can’t believe it to this day,” she said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings.

The 60-year-old who works in manufacturing said she is excited to surprise her husband with her win.

“I would love to deposit this cheque and surprise my husband. He’ll be so happy,” she said.

Dobson added that she has no plans for her winnings yet.

“It’s still so surreal. I never thought this would happen to someone like me,” she said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Metro on King Street in Hamilton.
