UPDATE: Hamilton power outages affect over 3,500 customers

Thousands of Hamilton households and businesse were without power on Tuesday, amid heat and air quality warnings.

Alectra Utilities had outages in the area of of West 5th Street to Pritchard Road and Twenty Road East to the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway. The utility company gave an expected time of resumption is 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, but said shortly before 8 p.m. that all power was restored.

Around 3,830 residences and businesses were affected. The total was down to 1,238 by 7:15 p.m.

The loss of electricity came with the city under a heat warning. At 6 p.m., the temperature was still 32C. The air quality health index (AQHI) on Hamilton Mountain was 4.8, indicating moderate risk, according to hamilton.weatherstats.ca.
