Hamilton power outage affecting more than 500 homes and businesses

A power outage in Stoney Creek is affecting hundreds of homes and businesses Thursday morning (Feb. 17).
According to Alectra Utilities, 556 customers in the area of Highway 8 to Lakeview Drive and Fruitland Road to Eastdale Boulevard area, are in the dark as crews have been dispatched to make repairs.
The cause of the outage is an overhead distribution problem, Alectra said.
The utility provider estimates that power will be restored by 1 p.m.
