A Hamilton family is celebrating their good fortune after winning big in the lottery recently.

According to an OLG press release, saying ‘yes’ to Encore paid off for Hamilton’s Andrew Goodfellow who matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the December 18, 2020, Lotto Max draw to win $100,000.

Goodfellow said he checked his ticket while at home and was shocked to see a screen appear on his phone that he hasn’t seen before.

“I had to check it a few times – when the phone lit up, I lit up,” said Goodfellow, a 57-year-old Canada Post worker in the release.

The father of two said he gathered his family together that night and scanned the ticket in front of them.

“They were all so excited,” he said. “It’s like a weight has been lifted from me.”

He said he plans to pay bills and take a belated 25-year anniversary trip with his wife.

The winning ticket was purchased at Laly’s Smoke Shop on Fennell Avenue.
