Hamilton Police seek to ID armed suspect gas station robbery attempt

Hamilton Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection to armed robbery at a gas station on the mountain last month.

According to police, the incident in question happened on the morning of Saturday, April 9, 2022, when a man brandishing a handgun entered a gas station in the area of Upper Wellington and Limeridge Rd. E.

The man reportedly approached the clerk working the counter and demanded cash.

“As the clerk motioned to open the till, the suspect ran out of the store prior to obtaining any cash,” police said in a news release issued Monday (May 2).

It is believed that the suspect fled on foot. He is described as:

  • Medium build and height
  • Black, hooded Under Armour sweatshirt
  • Grey sweatpants
  • Black gloves
  • Black toque

Anyone who may have been in the area of Upper Wellington Street and Limeridge Road East the morning of April 9, is urged to review their dash cameras for any suspicious activity.

Police are also asking residents in the area to check their surveillance cameras from the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m on the day in question.
