Hamilton police searching for suspect who stabbed victim after rummaging through their garbage

Hamilton Police are continuing to investigate a stabbing that took place in April in the city’s east end.

The incident happened shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18 in the area of Main Street East near Melrose Avenue South and Prospect Street South.

“An unknown suspect attacked a citizen while the suspect was confronted after rummaging through the victim’s garbage,” said police.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect fled the scene on foot and has yet to be identified.

He’s described as a bald white male, 20 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall, 160 to 170 pounds, and was wearing black jeans and a grey t-shirt with a logo on it.

Investigators are asking residents in the area with home security cameras to check their footage between 8 and 9:00 p.m. on April 18 for any potential sightings of the suspect.
