Hamilton police search for 'violent' federal fugitive with a 'history of violence'
Police are on the lookout for 37-year-old Vincent William Travers. The "high-risk" federal fugitive with a "history of violence" is known to Hamilton.

Hamilton police are on the lookout for a “high-risk” federal fugitive with a “history of violence” who is known to the Hamilton and Whitby areas.

37-year-old Vincent William Travers allegedly nearly struck a local officer with a motor vehicle while escaping an attempted arrest last Tuesday.

Police say Travers is prohibited from driving in Canada as a result of 12 separate driving suspensions.

He is described as a five-foot-six, 160-pound male.

“Travers is a high-risk offender with a history of violence and putting the public at risk through suspect apprehension pursuits,” according to the Hamilton Police Service.

Travers is wanted for the following charges:

  • Flight from Police
  • Dangerous Driving
  • Operate Motor Vehicle with Prohibition
  • Fail to Re-Appear Court
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

Police are advising members of the public not to approach Travers and to call 9-1-1 immediately.
