Hamilton Police release name of victim in fatal restaurant shooting

Two men are charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Ali Ghorbaniy, 25, from Hamilton at Raoabe Restaurant, Lounge and Bar on Upper Ottawa Street.

The Hamilton Police Service (HPS) released the name of the victim in the fatal shooting that took place at a local restaurant over the weekend.

With permission from the family, police said Monday (Nov. 15) that Ali Ghorbaniy from Hamilton was the man who died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The 25-year-old was killed at Raoabe Restaurant, Lounge and Bar on Upper Ottawa Street on Sunday at 2:20 a.m.

Two male suspects were seen fleeing the bar in dark clothing.

Hamilton Police Major Crime is investigating. There will be a heavy police presence in the area as officers canvass for video and witnesses.

There were also a large number of patrons inside the bar at the time of the shooting and police encourage anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
