Hamilton Police are investigating after shots were fired early Monday morning (Nov. 15) on the east mountain.

Police said they were called to the area of Upper Kenilworth and Mohawk Road just after 1 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers secured the area to search for anyone who might have been involved but the search proved fruitless, according to a Hamilton Police press release.

Through investigation, however, police confirmed that a shooting had, in fact, occurred in the area.

This is the second shooting on Hamilton’s east mountain in as many days.

Early Sunday (Nov. 14), Hamilton Police were called to Raoabe Restaurant on Upper Ottawa to reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival, a man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The 26-year-old was transported to hospital where he succumbed a short time later to his injuries.

No injuries have been reported as a result of Monday’s incident, and police said local hospital checks turned up nothing.

The investigation has been taken over by Division Three Criminal Investigation Branch and detectives are appealing to area residents to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity and to contact police.

Anyone with information that could assist police with the investigation into this crime is asked to contact detectives at 905-546-3851.
