Hamilton Police ID man gunned down outside his Stoney Creek home

Hamilton Police have identified the victim of Hamilton’s second homicide of 2020.

The next-of-kin notification has been completed and the victim has been identified as 42-year-old Giorgio Barresi from Stoney Creek, police said in a press release issued Wednesday (March 4).

On Monday, at approximately 10:45 p.m. Hamilton Police say they were called to reports of shots fired in the area of Portofino Place in lower Stoney Creek.

Once on scene, Barresi was located and despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

Police say they believe the shooting was targeted, but they have not confirmed any connection to criminal activity or organized crime.

The Hamilton Police Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the incident and they are asking for the public’s help.

Police believe a four-door sedan and possibly multiple suspects were involved.

Area residents are urged to check their surveillance cameras for any suspicious activities and to contact police.

The family of the victim is requesting privacy at this time.
