The Hamilton Police Service deployed its remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) — or drone — Tuesday morning to help investigate a serious collision on Highway 52 near the Flamborough Hills Golf Club.

Police say a garbage truck drove into a ditch and slammed into a pole in an area between Governor’s Rd. and Concession 2 at around 9:30 a.m.

The garbage truck driver was unresponsive and was transported to the trauma centre, according to police.

Highway 52 is closed between Governor’s and Concession 2 as the collision reconstruction unit investigates.
