Hamilton Police arrest 3 teens after vehicle stolen

Hamilton Police arrested four youth after an incident involving a stolen vehicle near Fennell Avenue and Garth Street in Hamilton.

On November 4, 2021, at approximately 3:10 p.m. police received a call from the owner of a stolen 2018 GMC Terrain. The owner had spotted the vehicle and was following it near the area of King St and Gage Ave. The vehicle was heading up the Claremont access when police began following it.

Police did not pursue the GMC but waited until more resources were in the area before attempting to stop the vehicle. Police tried to block the stolen truck on Fennell Avenue but the GMC hit a cruiser before mounting the sidewalk in front of Hillfield Strathallen College.

The four occupants fled the vehicle, with one of the individuals pointing a firearm at an officer. All four occupants were arrested after a brief foot pursuit. The gun was discarded during the chase but was eventually recovered by the Hamilton Police Service K9 Unit.

The weapon was located under a vehicle by PSD Radar and was determined to be 4.5 mm BB gun. Hillfield Strathallen College was briefly placed into a Hold and Secure during the investigation.

Four youth were taken into custody and face the following charges:

  • 15-year-old male – Point Firearm, Dangerous Operation, Possession Over, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Assault Police Officer with a Weapon
  • 16-year-old female – Occupy Stolen Auto
  • 17-year-old male – Occupy Stolen Auto
  • 15-year-old male – Occupy Stolen Auto
