Environment Canada says Hamilton and Niagara Region are among areas of Southern Ontario that should brace for heavy rains late Friday into Friday night (Oct. 15).

The federal agency’s speicial weather statement says showers and thunderstorms are forecast to move across the area. The amount of rain might reach 30 to 40 millimetres. Isolated amounts of up to 50 mm are possible.

Further rainfall warnings may be required.
