Here’s what’s open and closed on New Years Day January 1, 2020 in Hamilton:
Open:
- Movie Theatres in Hamilton (The Westdale and Playhouse Cinema are CLOSED)
- Splitsville Entertainment (12 p.m. to 11 p.m.)
- Some restaurants will be open but with reduced hours, so call ahead
- Most Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine restaurants will be open
- Most convenience stores
- Some Shoppers Drug Marts
Shopping centres outside of Hamilton that are open:
Square One 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Pacific Mall 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
Toronto Premium Outlets 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Vaughan Mills 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
Eaton Centre 12-7 p.m.

Garbage Collection:
There will be no green cart, blue box, bulk waste, yard waste, or garbage pick-up on New Years Day. Your pick-up will be one day later if it falls on or after the holiday.
Transit:
Buses, ATS, and DARTS will operate on a regular Sunday/Holiday service (6:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.)
