Hamilton murder suspect arrested Monday afternoon in Toronto

Sukhraj Cheema-Singh, who was wanted on first degree murder charges in the death of his father, Kuldip Singh, was arrested Monday afternoon in Toronto.

Police were called to Trafalgar and Mud Street in Stoney Creek Saturday evening, just after 7:30 after reports of a fight. Kuldip Singh was found suffering from serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Neighbours who witnessed the scene said Sukhraj Cheema-Singh fled in a dark blue mid-size SUV, later identified as a blue 2022 Ford Edge with a Quebec licence plate. Hamilton Police arrested Cheema-Singh at 2:55 p.m. near Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue in Toronto. Police say he was still driving the vehicle.

Cheema-Singh will appear in court on Tuesday.
