Hamilton mom and child hit by car. Mom charged with jaywalking

A Hamilton woman is facing charges for not using a crosswalk after she and her daughter were struck by a vehicle.

According to Hamilton Police, the incident happened just before 5 p.m. yesterday (May 31) at the intersection of Barton St. E. and Rosslyn Ave. N.

Emergency services were called to the scene and preliminary reports indicate that a woman and her child entered the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk and were subsequently struck by a vehicle.

Both the woman and her child were taken to a nearby hospital where their injuries were deemed as non-life threatening.

Subsequently, the 33-year-old has been charged with “pedestrian fail to use crosswalk” under the Highway Traffic Act.
