Hamilton man one of two charged in alleged St. Catharines drug trafficking

Two men from Hamilton and Kitchener were charged by Niagara Police following a two month investigation into drug trafficking in the St. Catharines area.

On Feb. 10, Niagara Police, assisted by Hamilton Police, zeroed in on a Hamilton apartment on John St. with a search warrant and arrested the pair after finding  743.7 grams of suspected fentanyl and 54.6 grams of suspected cocaine with a combined street value of the drugs is $156,260.

In addition, the police found $550 in Canadian cash and $49 in American dollars that the police believe to be crime cash.

Juwan Osei, 25, of Hamilton has been charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of crime cash under $5,000.

Fernando Manuel Debarros, 49, of Kitchener has been charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of crime cash under $5,000.

The pair had a bail hearing on Feb. 10 via video link to the courthouse in St. Catharines and have been remained in custody.
