Hamilton man found with axe, sawed-off shotgun outside convenience store

A 57-year-old Hamilton man is facing more than a dozen charges after police were called to investigate reports of a man with a handgun.
At around noon on Monday, police responded to the call outside a convenience store in the area of Barton St. and Melrose Ave.
The suspect was located and a replica handgun was seized.
However, police later discovered an axe in the suspect’s waistband.
A further search uncovered drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, and a loaded sawed-off shotgun.
Police did not specify where the drugs and shotgun were found.

- Carless Use, Carry, Transport, Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Ammunition
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Prohibited Firearm- Loaded/Unloaded
- Possession of Weapon Obtained by Crime
- Possession Contrary to Order X 3
- Breach of Firearms Regulation
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Possession Schedule 1- Methamphetamine
