A 57-year-old Hamilton man is facing more than a dozen charges after police were called to investigate reports of a man with a handgun.

At around noon on Monday, police responded to the call outside a convenience store in the area of Barton St. and Melrose Ave.

The suspect was located and a replica handgun was seized.

However, police later discovered an axe in the suspect’s waistband.

A further search uncovered drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, and a loaded sawed-off shotgun.

Police did not specify where the drugs and shotgun were found.
