Hamilton man facing lengthy list of charges, after drug seizure

A Hamilton man faces a long list of charges in relation to a drug seizure that occurred in the city on Wednesday.

The Hamilton Police Service says that it seized crystal meth, cocaine, fentanyl and oxycodone with a street value of $56,367 during a bust in the area of Centennial Parkway North and the Queen Elizabeth Way. They also seized more than $5,000 in cash, and a stun-gun.

Officers had observed a male loitering around a motorcycle and began to investigate, the HPS said.

Christopher Matwijszyn, 37, of Hamilton, was arrested and taken into custody. Matwijszyn is facing the following charges:

  • Failure to comply with release order (two counts)
  • Failure to comply with probation order (two counts)
  • Possession contrary to order
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule 1 drug — cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule 1 drug — crystal meth
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule 1 drug — fentanyl
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule 1 drug — oxycodone
  • Proceeds of crime over $5,000
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon (a stun-gun)
