A 43-year-old man from Hamilton allegedly made threats and showed an “edged weapon” during a late-night argument in Simcoe, Ont., last weekend, which led to police laying charges.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment says that at about 1:32 p.m. on June 18, officers responded to a 911 emergency call for a weapons incident at an address on Norfolk Street South, which is the main north-south artery through the town of Simcoe.

“It was determined that an individual became engaged in a verbal altercation with several other people and displayed an edged weapon while making threats,” Norfolk County OPP said on Tuesday (June 21).

“Officers arrived on scene and subsequently located the person and took them into custody without incident.”

Tyronne Robertson, 43, faces one count of assault with a weapon and one count of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.

The accused will appear in a Simcoe court at a later date.

Simcoe is a town of about 14,000 located around a 45-minute drive southwest of Hamilton.
