Hamilton man charged with careless driving in accident that injured teen: Police

Hamilton Police have charged a 49-year-old local man with careless driving in connection to a crash that injured a 14-year-old girl at a busy downtown intersection in March.

Police said in a press release issued Wednesday (May 18) that the man has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving causing bodily harm, and will appear in court in late July to answer to the charge.

The 14-year-old girl sustained critical injuries in the March 30th crash at the intersection of Main Street E and Dundurn. The girl was walking home from school at approximately 2:30 p.m. when she was struck.

She has since been released from hospital and is at home recovering from the injuries sustained from the collision.

The driver remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with the investigation.
