A Hamilton man is facing charges following an assault in Lennox and Addington County over the weekend.

At around 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, OPP officers responded to a report of three males on all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) who were reportedly trespassing on private property while arguing with the property owner.

“One of the males from the ATVs struck the property owner, injuring him,” said police. “The property owner was transported to hospital.”

Police say the male who assaulted the victim was showing signs of impairment, which led police to administer an Approved Screening Device (ASD) and arrest the male.

41-year-old Hamilton man Jessie Freeman is charged with aggravated assault and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80.

His licence was also suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Freeman has since been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on May 2, 2023.
