Hamilton man charged in stolen fuel investigation in Banff

A man from Hamilton has been arrested in Alberta after a police raid at a home in Banff.

Banff RCMP raided a house on Marten St. just off the tourist town’s main drag. They believed the home was connected to several robberies of fuel and sporting goods.

During the raid, officers say they found a car stolen from Ontario, a kayak and Thule cargo box stolen from just outside Banff, two bicycles stolen from Banff and Canmore, and miscellaneous sports equipment from Banff.

Officers also found a prohibited weapon in the form of brass knuckles.

The RCMP arrested Andrew Meloche, 26 of Hamilton. He stands charged with 27 charges including; theft, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a prohibited weapon, and failure to comply with a probation order.

Meloche will remain in custody until a court appearance in Canmore on November 2.
