Hamilton man arrested after several shots fired into air outside Burlington restaurant

Halton police have arrested a Hamilton man they believe fired several shots into the air at a Burlington restaurant on July 9.

At around 2 a.m., police responded to reports of shots being fired at the Port House Social Bar and Kitchen, located at 2020 Lakeshore Rd. in Burlington.

An altercation had occurred between a group of people in the parking lot of the bar. At some point during the altercation, it’s alleged the suspect produced a handgun from his waistband and fired five to six shots into the air. No one was struck by the rounds and no physical injuries were reported.

Investigators from the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify the suspect and arrested a suspect at his home in Hamilton.

Bashdar Kader, 23, was arrested and has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and unauthorized possession of firearm.

Police haven’t yet recovered the gun that was fired. Kader was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
