Police arrested a 32-year-old Hamilton man after a fatal hit-and-run killed a 70-year-old pedestrian and dog in the area of Lawrence and Cochrane rd.

Police arrested a 32-year-old Hamilton man after a fatal hit-and-run killed a pedestrian and dog.

The incident occurred on Jan. 30, 2022, at around 8:30 p.m. in the area of Lawrence and Cochrane Rd.

Police believe the 70-year-old male victim was crossing Lawrence Rd. with his three-year-old dog when the driver of an eastbound motor vehicle struck them both.

The driver then reportedly fled the scene.

The male victim died in hospital shortly after arriving. The dog died at the scene.

Andrew Muir is facing the following charges:

  • Fail to Stop Cause Death
  • Operation While Prohibited
  • Fail to Comply Probation
  • Fail to Comply Probation
  • Muir had his bail opposed.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
