Hamilton man accused of pointing sawed-off rifle, possessing brass knuckles

A Hamilton man is facing several charges related to weapon possession after an incident downtown on Sunday (Jan. 16), shortly before midnight.

Police say 34-year-old Joshua James Teklenburg brandished a sawed-off .22 calibre rifle in the area of Wilson and Fergeson St.

Officers responded, including members of the Hamilton Police Service K9 Unit, where Teklenburg was located and arrested without incident.

He is charged with:

  • Point Firearm Sec 87 CC
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm Sec 91(1) CC
  • Unauthorized possession of prohibited weapon (brass knuckles) Sec 91(2) CC
  • Possession prohibited Firearm Sec. 95(2) CC
  • Possession contrary to Order X6 SEC 117.01 (1) CC
  • Breach conditional sentence order x 2 Sec 742.6 CC
  • FTC probation x 6 Sec 733.1 (1) CC

Police seized the loaded rifle, as well as a pair of brass knuckles.

Teklenburg had his bail opposed.
