A 22-year-old man is in custody, facing charges after several shots were fired inside a Hess Village home on Sunday afternoon.
The attack, which Hamilton Police (HPS) believe was targeted, sent an 18-year-old to hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot injuries. Early Monday afternoon, police said that a suspect was in custody and was scheduled to appear in court at some point in the day.
The suspect, who hails from Hamilton, is charged with robbery with a firearm; aggravated assault; and failure to comply with the terms of probation. The HPS, customarily, does not publish the name of a person accused of a crime before they have made a court appearance.
The shooting happened around 1 p.m. and HPS says the “investigation into this crime is ongoing.” The attack occurred in the area of Caroline and George streets. and police are appealing to area residents to check their security cameras between the hours of 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Oct. 23 for any suspicious activity. Drivers who were in the area at the time who have dash camera footage that would be suitable for review should also contact investigators.
Information may be shared with HPS detectives (905-546-3816) or Central division staff sergeants (905-546-4725).
Information may also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8477; online at crimestoppershamilton.com).
