There is a heavy police presence at Glendale high school in Hamilton Monday morning. It’s the third time in the last month that the east-end school has been the target of a bomb threat and the second occurrence over the last four school days.
Police cleared the previous two incidents, sending students and staff back to their classrooms. The third is currently under investigation.
The Hamilton Police Service tweeted Monday at 9:22 a.m. that Glendale secondary, at King St. East and Nash Rd., was evacuated.

Students are typically held at Viola Desmond elementary school, located directly behind Glendale, during police investigations that warrant an evacuation.
Glendale isn’t the only school that has dealt with bomb threats recently. Westmount secondary, off Garth St. near Mohawk Rd., was also evacuated last Tuesday and was cleared shortly after. That threat came soon after the one made against Glendale.
Update: Glendale high school was cleared by police just before 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Staff and students returned to their classrooms.
