A bake shop chain whose signature item is plant-based cinnamon rolls will roll into Hamilton in the not-too-distant future.

Cinnaholic, whose products are 100 per cent plant-based, dairy and lactose-free, egg-free and cholesterol-free, will soon open a location at 1035 King St. W. in the Westdale village. The chain has about 70 locations across the United States and has made inroads into Southern Ontario, gaining from exposure on the TV series “Shark Tank.”

It is not yet known when the shop will be open. A Facebook page is active (Cinnaholic.Hamilton.WestdaleVillage).

Cinnaholic shops’ rolls are highly customizable. They typically offer about 20 unique frosting flavours, with some seasonal rotation, as well as close to two dozen toppings. Signature items come with handles such as Campfire S’mores, Caramal Apple Pie and Cookie Monster.

There is also a franchise at 259 Lakeshore Rd. E. in Oakville. It opened last month.

Bakeries that eschew the use of dairy and gluten are growing in popularity. For instance, Sugar Daddies Bakery Inc. recently opened its first Hamilton location at 120 King St. E., in the Royal Connaught building.

Further information about Cinnaholic is available on the web, cinnaholic.ca and on Instagram (@cinnaholic).
