As students return to school, a Hamilton Fortinos is hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic for children ages five to 11. 

As students return to school, a Hamilton Fortinos is hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic for children ages five to 11.

Appointments can be booked by calling the Fortinos pharmacy, located at 50 Dundurn St, at 905-529-9135.

The clinic will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 20 and 21.

First and second-dose pediatric Pfizer vaccines will be available.

“For the past two years pharmacists have played an important role, supporting public health priorities in the fight against COVID. Right now, it’s more important than ever that children get vaccinated in order to protect themselves, their classmates, and their teachers,” said Ashesh Desai, Executive Vice President, Pharmacy and Healthcare, Loblaw Companies Limited. “These clinics will make appointments more accessible and convenient for those who need them to help keep our schools safe.”

The Fortinos located at 2025 Guelph Line in Burlington will also be hosting child clinics. Appointments can be booked by calling 905-336-1112.

To date, 46 per cent of Hamilton children aged five to 11 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. 10 per cent have received two. Meanwhile, 80 per cent of the eligible population have received at least two doses. 86.2 per cent received at least one.
