Crews from the Hamilton Fire Department are on the scene of a multiple alarm fire at a home on the east mountain Tuesday (May 31).
Emergency crews were called to reports of a structure fire at a home in the area of Royal Vista Drive and Templemead Drive shortly before 11:30 a.m.
Shortly after arrival, the call was upgraded to multiple-alarm fire to bring more crews in to help battle the fire.
UPDATE: Reports say a woman who was rescued from the roof of the home and a firefighter have been taken to hospital.
Pictures from the scene of the fire show that the home sustained significant damage, particularly the back portion of the home.
The Hamilton Fire Department is warning residents in the area that Royal Vista will be closed for ‘some time’ on Tuesday as the scene is cleared.
