Hamilton family ‘humbled’ by recent lotto win; plans for a happy holiday

A Hamilton family expects to celebrate the holiday season in style after winning big in the lottery last month.

According to an OLG press release, saying ‘yes’ to Encore paid off for Binbrook’s Altaf Khalani after he matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the Nov. 30, 2021, Lotto Max draw to win $100,000.

Khalni, a 50-year-old father, said he is not a regular lottery player and wasn’t even sure what exactly he was purchasing when buying the golden ticket.

“When I checked my ticket and saw all the zeros I started sweating,” he said.

“I showed my wife, and she didn’t notice the win at first, then she looked at it again and started jumping up and down.”

Khalani said in the OLG release that he feels humbled by this win and plans to have an extra special Christmas.

“My wife and daughter deserve it,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Binbrook Food Market on Highway 56.
