The Hamilton Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) designated its player leadership group for the 2021-22 season on Thursday (Oct. 7).

Colton Kammerer will serve as the fifth captain in franchise history, taking over from Isaac Nurse, who is now playing at the University of New Brunswick.

Kammerer, who has 149 OHL games under his belt, was acquired by the Bulldogs on June 3, 2020, from Sarnia.

“Colton is a great person and teammate,” said Hamilton Bulldogs head coach Jay McKee. “He is a player who leads by example through his work ethic, not only in games but during every rep in practice. As a person with very high character, he has earned respect throughout our dressing room and organization. We are very proud to have Colton Kammerer captain our team and be an inspiration for our younger players.”.

Meanwhile, Jan Mysak, Navrin Mutter, Nathan Staios, and Logan Morrison have been named assistant captains for 2021-22.

The Dogs open their regular season on the road Friday (Oct. 8) against the Oshawa Generals before playing in their home opener on Oct. 9 against the Barrie Colts at FirstOntario Centre.
