Hamilton AstraZeneca receipients get 2nd dose choice

Hamilton residents whose first COVID-19 jab was AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine will have the option to mix vaccines for their second dose.

Hamilton Public Health Services announced Thursday that, in accordance with updated guidance from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization that was approved by the provinciual government, those who received the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine will have options. Those wishing to receive another AZ jab can contact the location where they received their first dose starting Friday. Those who want to receive the Moderna or Pfizer mRNA vaccine can begin registration on Monday through the city of Hamilton. 

The HPHS recommends that everyone who is eligible for a vaccination receive the first vaccine that is available to them, adding that more information regarding the interchangeability of mRNA vaccines will be available from the Province in coming days.

Hamilton is also holding also community-based and led mobile clinics targeting specific populations. Location and availability can be found at hamilton.ca/VaccineBooking. All vaccination planning is based on and contingent on available COVID-19 vaccine supply, the city added.
