Hamilton and Burlington still have areas with higher COVID-19 rates

While COVID-19 percent positivity rates (the percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in an area) are continuing to drop across Ontario, some areas, including in Hamilton and Burlington, are still reporting relatively high rates.

Toronto-based research group ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of July 11 to 17.

Of the top 50 listed, five are in Hamilton and one in Burlington:

L7S, Burlington at 2.94%
38th highest COVID-19 positivity in Ontario

L9C, Hamilton at 2.93%
39th highest COVID-19 positivity in Ontario

L9K, Ancaster at 2.80%
41st highest COVID-19 positivity in Ontario

L8L, Hamilton at 2.65%
47th highest COVID-19 positivity in Ontario

Of Ontario’s 34 public health units, Hamilton has the fifth highest COVID-19 positivity at 1.68%, while Halton has the 12th highest at 0.76%.

Ontario overall is listed 11th at 0.79%.

For all Ontario residents, the percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of July 11 was 0.8%, down from 1.0% the previous week.

Ontario has now reached 77% vaccine coverage of at least one dose (up 1% from the previous week) and 60% vaccine coverage of two doses (up 7% from the previous week).
