Hamilton adults and youth eligible for accelerated 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Adults in Hamilton who have received their first dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine will be eligible to book their second dose appointment at a shortened interval, starting Monday (June 28) at 8 a.m.

The appointment will be scheduled at least 28 days after the first dose, according to Public Health.

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines fall under the mRNA category.

In addition, with Hamilton being one of ten public health units identified as a Delta Variant hot spot, youth (12 to 17) will be able to book an accelerated second dose appointment, beginning Saturday (June 26) at 8 a.m.

Appointments can be made through the provincial booking system: hamilton.ca/VaccineBooking

To date, 496,632 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Hamilton with 72.8 per cent of adults receiving at least one dose and 27.4 per cent getting both.

Meanwhile, 56.3 per cent of Hamilton youth have received the first dose.
