The Halton STEM Club is holding a special event for girls in Burlington next week.

The goal of the 2023 Girls’ STEM Night is to introduce youngsters to science, technology, engineering and math, all areas of study that have been traditionally dominated by males.

“We believe that females are equally capable in STEM fields,” said a club spokesperson.

The guest speaker for the event is Tim Yee Lee, the safety officer of aircraft design and development for Bombardier. He’s been an industrial engineer for 25 years.

Among the activities that will be available when you register are:

  • 3D Design: TinkerCAD – (need a laptop/tablet)
  • Electronic Control: Micro Bit – (need a laptop/tablet)
  • Active physics: Marble Run
  • Active Physics: Boomerang Canister

The free event for girls ages 6 to 14 is Thursday, Feb. 23, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Tansley Woods Community Centre in Burlington.
