Halton residents urged to avoid non-essential travel due to snow

Residents in Halton and Peel (Brampton, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills) are being advised to avoid any non-essential travel due to some expected late April snow.

Environment Canada says a winter weather travel advisory is in effect for tonight (April 20) and Wednesday (April 21) morning.

Residents can expect between four and eight centimetres of snow, slippery road conditions and reduced visibility.

Environment Canada says snow will move into the area late this evening, with lower snowfall amounts expected along the shores of Lake Ontario.

The Wednesday morning commute may be impacted.

“Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve,” Environment Canada says on its website.

“This Winter Weather Travel Advisory is due to a low-pressure system that is forecast to track south of the region tonight and Wednesday. Due to the uncertain track of the weather system and the warm ground temperatures, total snowfall amounts expected could change.”
