With this week’s approval of the COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 5-11 (or turning five in 2021), Halton Public Health is gearing up to start providing shots on Friday, Nov. 26.

Vaccination appointments will be available at Halton’s new child-friendly pediatric clinics and four existing community clinics.

To prepare children and parents for a positive vaccination experience, the region has launched its new Halton Heroes campaign to help children who may be anxious about needles and give parents new tools to talk with their kids about COVID-19 and vaccines.

Information about the vaccine rollout for children and resources featuring the Halton Heroes can be found on the region website.

In addition, Halton’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Hamidah Meghani, is part of a Youtube video that highlights five things you need to know about the pediatric vaccine.

So far, 89 per cent of Halton residents ages 12 and over have received one dose and 86 per cent have received both doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
