Halton police find drugs, weapons during bust in Burlington

Halton police have laid several charges following a month-long drug trafficking investigation in Burlington.

During the course of the investigation, officers observed the suspect conducting drug transactions in the city.

On the evening of Feb. 14, police conducted a traffic stop on the suspect and a female passenger in the area of Brant and Prospect streets in Burlington. A subsequent search warrant was executed at a residence in the area of Queensway Dr. and Guelph Line.

As a result of a search of the suspects, vehicle and residence, police said they seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, hydromorphone pills, clonazepam pills, oxycodone pills, $5,700 in cash, 11 illegal knives, three airsoft imitation firearms, pepper spray, an anti signal detector used to locate installed tracking devices, three digital scales and three cell phones.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is more than $28,000.

Patrick McNerney, 52, and Samantha Morwood, 28, both of Burlington, were arrested and charged with multiple drug trafficking, weapon offences and possession of stolen property charges.

Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
