Halton Police Continue Hunt for Burlington Carjacking Suspect

Halton police are continuing their hunt in the Greater Toronto Area for a Dundas, Ont. man who’s wanted in relation to a Burlington carjacking.

Halton police are continuing their hunt in the Greater Toronto Area for a Dundas, Ont. man who’s wanted in relation to a Burlington carjacking.

“We’re still trying to track down some leads,” said Halton police Det. Jared McLeod on Saturday.

The man was identified by investigators on Jan. 19 as 41-year-old Terry Lurch Strome.

“If you see him, great. Let us know,” McLeod said.

Witnesses are still being sought after officers were sent to a fail to remain crash on Jan. 18 at 2:45 p.m. near King Rd. and Plains Rd.

That’s where the male driver of one of the vehicles allegedly fled the collision, running to a nearby gas station where he carjacked a vehicle from an elderly woman pumping gas.

The senior wasn’t injured.

The man left in a dark grey 2005 Acura TL four-door sedan with Ontario licence plate BBJL 781.

The Acura was then involved in a short pursuit with police, later colliding with a cruiser.

An officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police haven’t yet found the Acura and they’re asking the public for help.

“If anyone has any tips, please give us a call,” said McLeod.

The vehicle was last spotted entering Hwy. 407 westbound at Hwy. 400 at 7:14 p.m. on Jan. 18.

The suspect has a history of violence and is known to flee from police, say investigators.

He’s already been convicted of assaulting a Halton police officer in a similar incident in which he fled a scene.

Strome is wanted for robbery, flight police, dangerous driving, and criminal negligence, among other criminal offences.

The officer who was sent to hospital went back to work on Jan. 19.
