Halton police arrest two men after string of thefts in Burlington, Milton, Oakville

Halton police have arrested a pair of men they believe responsible for a rash of thefts across Burlington, Oakville, Milton and surrounding communities.

Officers from the Burlington division began investigating reports of gym locker thefts in June.

The suspects would break into the lockers, steal the contents within, then head to the parking lot where they would steal motor vehicles and go to nearby stores to use the stolen credit cards.

The suspects have also been identified as being responsible for additional offences across the region and neighbouring jurisdictions.

Last week, the suspects were located and arrested by Halton police at a hotel in Cambridge. During the arrest, the suspects were jointly in possession of a stolen Kia motor vehicle. Each suspect also possessed a quantity of methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Taylor Gillard, 23, of no fixed address has been charged with numerous offences, including six counts of car theft, possession of weapons, possession of stolen property, credit card fraud, possession of break and enter tools and drug possession.

Michael Salverda, 36, of no fixed address has been charged with numerous offences, including possession of a weapon, theft, possession of stolen property, credit card fraud, possession of break and enter tools and possession of a controlled substance.
